Poetic, with majestic mountains, numerous rivers, and clear springs, Boccaccio, the poet, already described Friuli, northeastern Italy. The Alps form the natural border to Austria in the north and Slovenia in the east. A diverse landscape with modern cities, old castles, and fields amidst green hills, ideal for vineyards and surrounded by extensive forests. The vineyards are situated on south-facing slopes, the Alps provide protection from cold northern winds, and proximity to the Adriatic ensures a mild microclimate. On the hillside of one of these hills lies the 100-year-old winery of Gianni and Silvana Cerato. Both love nature and this landscape and base their work not only on modern achievements in winemaking but also on their strong connection to tradition.
