Graceful, with magnificent mountains, diverse rivers, and clear springs, the region of Friuli in northeastern Italy was described as such by the poet Boccaccio. The Alps form the natural border to Austria in the north and Slovenia in the east. It is a varied landscape with modern cities, ancient castles, and fields amidst green hills, ideal for viticulture and surrounded by extensive forests.
The vineyards are situated on south-facing slopes, with the Alps providing protection against cold north winds, and the proximity to the Adriatic Sea ensures a mild microclimate. At the top of one of these hills lies the 100-year-old estate of Gianni and Silvana Cerato. Both have a deep love for nature and the landscape, basing their work not only on modern advancements in winemaking but also on a strong connection to tradition.
